Electricians are skilled professional workers that install and maintain electrical systems in homes and businesses all over the country. When working with telecommunication lines they need to have knowledge of fiber optics and telecommunication routers and switches. They also need to have knowledge of installing new lines from utility poles, towers and trenches that go underground to carry the wires and cables. This is just a few of the main jobs of line installers and repairers. They do a variety of different kinds of work. To be in this profession you have to have training and knowledge in this type of work.

Electrical and electronics installers and repairers is another occupation related to an electrician. This job consist of installing, repairing and maintaining complex electrical equipment for businesses and organizations. These installers and repairers are known as field technicians. They travel to various locations to repair equipment. They do preventive maintenance on a regular basis to keep things running correctly. And if something breaks down they travel to the site to do repair and maintenance work on this equipment.

Electronic home entertainment equipment installers and repairers are another occupation similar to an electrician. These type of people are called service technicians. They repair different equipment you have in your home such as televisions, radios, stereos, video cameras and recorders along with other items. They also do installation of home security systems, satellite dishes, home theatre systems, and intercom equipment. This job is in high demand for many reasons. You must have the proper knowledge and skilled training to be in this kind of work. Elevator installer and repairer is another similar line of work to an electrician.

To be a elevator installer and repairer you must have the knowledge to assemble, install, and replace elevators, escalators, moving walkways, dumbwaiters and other equipment into old and new buildings. You must also be able to maintain this equipment and also repair it when needed. An elevator installer and repairer also is responsible to update old equipment. They must also have knowledge of hydraulics, electronics and electricity.
